Section of Labratory Technicians in Clinical Chemistry of The Czech Society of Clinical Biochemistry, part of The Czech Medical Association of Jan Evangelista Purkyně

The history of organization of laboratory technicians in clinical chemistry starts on December 6th, 1962, when assoc. prof. Dr. Homolka and thirty enthusiastic laboratory technicians founded the Committee of Laboratory Technicians in Clinical Chemistry. In 1968 this committee changed the name to Section of Laboratory Technicians in Clinical Chemistry.

In 1968, after federalization, the Czechoslovak Medical Association of Jan Evangelista Purkyně became a heading society and newly The Czech and Slovak Medical Associations were founded. The Section of Clinical Chemistry changed its name to The Society of Clinical Chemistry. Additionally, The Society of Laboratory Technicians was formed and the Committee of Laboratory Technicians in Clinical Chemistry changed to The Section of Laboratory Technicians in Clinical Chemistry.

The activity of the Committee culminated in the organization of The National Conference of Laboratory Technicians in Clinical Chemistry – BIOLAB, held in Jilemnice in 1964. Emil Stach was its initiator and main organizer. Since then, BIOLABs are held annually.
